For most athletes the process of selecting and attending a race is pretty simple.  Buy an entry and do the race. What about when life happens?

REFUND POLICY. The Cal Tri Events Refund Policy is 7 words. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers. It is included in online registration process.  It is posted on every race page.  We relaxed that in 2020 due to the global pandemic and gave athletes some great options. Still we get requests under the category “it never hurts to ask, right?” and that triage takes time from race preparations.

BUYING RACE PROTECTION IS AN OPTION. Buying a race entry without insurance is like walking a tight rope without a net.  Most times you will make it but what happens when the unexpected happens. Splat! We highly recommend buying Allianz’s Event Registration Protection so that there is an option when life happens.  Allianz handles them because they have the financial power and bandwidth to administer a refund program. Cal Tri Events doesn’t.

COURTESY NOTIFICATION. If you know you are not going to be able to race, we appreciate the courtesy of letting us know so you can be removed from the start list.  You will not get needless notifications and some poor volunteer won’t have to waste time putting together another packet.

  • Cal Tri Events Refund PolicyThere are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers.
  • Allianz’s Event Registration Protector. Insurance when life throws a wrench in the best plans. It is the only method to get a refund.
  • DNS (Did Not Start) Notification Appreciated. If you know you aren’t going to be on the starting line, we appreciate it if you let us know.

Take this advice from someone who has purchased a $700 race entry without insurance and was unable to race.  It stung and it could have been avoided.
